Beaches & lakeside walk

Toscolano Maderno has several public beaches along the shore: easy swimming spots without travelling far. There is also Bau Beach for dogs, and a local equestrian centre (campo ippico) for those who want to ride. The loveliest everyday outing is the lakeside promenade: it starts in Maderno and follows the water all the way through town toward Toscolano: a beautiful walk that links the whole village along the lake.

Thursday market

Every Thursday morning the weekly market fills Piazzale Nassiriya and Viale Marconi in Toscolano, right by the Le Montagnette area on Via Statale Toscolano. Come for fruit and vegetables, local hams and cheeses, prepared food and everyday stalls. Ideal for stocking the apartment kitchen or picking up a picnic for the beach.

Golf Bogliaco

Golf Bogliaco is one of Italy’s oldest courses (founded 1912): an 18-hole par-70 layout set in a green basin above the western shore, with wide views over Lake Garda. Monte Pizzocolo

Monte Pizzocolo is the sharp peak that rises behind Toscolano Maderno, unmistakable from the lake. Trails climb through woods and ridges to a wide balcony over almost the whole of Lake Garda. It is a proper hike (plan several hours and good shoes), rewarding on clear days with views toward Monte Baldo and the Brescian Prealps.

Rifugio Pirlo allo Spino

Rifugio Pirlo allo Spino is the classic mountain hut stop on the way toward Passo Spino and Monte Pizzocolo. Many guests hike up for lunch or a rest with a view, then continue to the summit or return the same way. It turns a long walk into a day with a clear goal and a place to refill energy.

Ferry to Torri del Benaco

From Maderno you can take the Navigazione Lago di Garda ferry across to Torri del Benaco on the eastern shore. The crossing itself is part of the outing: water, breeze and a different view of the mountains. Torri invites a slow walk through the historic centre, the castle area and the lakefront, then the boat back to Maderno.
